Mountain Ridge’s “Active Minds” club has just opened up this year and is ready to get the show on the road with an exciting art competition, the results of which will be revealed in one of their meetings.

The club meetings are held in C204, Dr. Chism’s classroom; they’ll feature fun, stress relieving activities that are open to any student wanting to participate.

“Our doors are always open, anyone is allowed to come to our meetings; They should feel safe to talk about their mental health to those they care about,” stated Jaiden Singh, the club’s active president.

Suitably, the club’s main purpose is to keep students who may suffer from mental health issues active and happy. Singh hopes that the club will help reduce the general stigma that surrounds those who suffer from difficulties with their mental health (I.e. extinguish its taboo status).

“Students need to treat their mental health just like their physical health,” Singh proclaimed.

To promote the club, its current members are throwing an art competition that’s once again open to anyone interested in participating. The pieces should reflect something that they feel “embodies [their] mental health.” As of now, the prize for the winner is a gift card of their choice, and the winning piece will be featured here on the Ridge Review. The due date for the pieces will be on October 31st, and votes will be taken in a club meeting in November.

Now’s the time to go check out the burgeoning club, as it’s for a wholeheartedly kindly and venerable cause; as of now, I, as well as Singh, totally recommend it!
