This past Friday, December 10th, Ridge StuGo held an Ugly Christmas Sweater day, asking the student body to rep their best, worst, and most festive holiday attire.

Something as small as an Ugly Sweater Day on a random Friday can improve the culture around the campus,” said Cale Stephenson, MRHS student body president. “A happy and involved student body leads to a better turnout at events like homecoming and prom.”

With hopes of boosting school spirit, Friday’s event took place between two stressful finals weeks.

These random spirit days … make school a more fun place to be and encourages people to get involved,” said student government vice president, Aftin Allen. “When more people are involved it makes the student body more unified and connected.”

Ridge’s student government has worked hard to put on morale boosting events this semester, like ‘anything but a backpack day’  in November, and the fall spirit week in October, with a corresponding assembly, parade, and homecoming dance.

“I think it’s a spirit day that’ll help everyone get into the Christmas spirit and look forward to the break,” said StuGo spirit director, Ella Smith.

With a full week until winter break, MRHS StuGo would like to wish everyone a happy holiday and an even better new year!
