NHS Volunteers at St. Mary’s Food Bank
December 9, 2022
National Honor Society members volunteered at Saint Mary’s Food Bank for their mandatory semester event on December 3rd. The students were assigned a location on a long assembly line, all purposefully packing boxes full of canned goods for families in need.
“Volunteering at St Mary’s food bank was a great experience,” said junior Diego Armenta. “ It really opened my eyes to the work they do and how impactful volunteering can be.”
NHS had 60 members at the two-hour event on Saturday morning who dedicated their time and service to their community this holiday season.
“Packing food for people in need is very rewarding, especially since St. Mary’s is a local food bank that serves our community,” said senior Ellie Morgan, who made boxes during her shift. “It’s inspiring to know the impact I can make in just a short amount of time serving.”
Another volunteer opportunity is coming up the following Saturday, December 10th, where NHS is expecting an additional 60 students to pack boxes for feeding hungry families across the Valley.
