Autumn is one of the most beautiful and aesthetic seasons out there, from the pumpkin spice lattes, to the fluffy socks and blankets, to the amazing food, to the feeling of the crisp scented air, and finally, the TV shows. Fall series can range from a variety of things: horror, thriller, rom-com, drama, and so many others. These films are a huge part of getting into the fall spirit. In this article, I’ll discuss which TV series I most enjoy with a warm cup of coffee and a soft fluffy blanket.
Gilmore Girls
The popular 2000s TV show, Gilmore Girls, is the perfect show to binge-watch for the entirety of autumn. At least that’s what I tend to do. With the right blanket and the right snacks, Gilmore Girls is definitely worth your while. The storyline is about a girl who got pregnant at 16 and ran away from home to raise the baby, however, it takes place when her child is starting high school. Lorelai Gilmore, the mother, is a bright, spirited woman with an obsessive addiction to coffee. Rory Gilmore, the daughter, is a bookworm who takes school more seriously than anything.
The two have a bond that no other can break and throughout the show, we see new romances, friendship drama, identity crises, and all things that test the limits of a mother-daughter relationship. Though the series isn’t always set in the season of fall, it definitely gives off that feeling, which is why it’s the perfect fall show. By the end of it, you’ll have laughed, cried, and yelled at the TV screen as if the characters could hear you. If you end up loving it as much as me, you’ll have rewatched it eleven times in two years.
Freshman Laila Atwell says “Oh yeah, I love Gilmore Girls! It’s a super fun watch and it’s absolutely heartwarming.”
If you’re looking for something that will take a while to watch and will always bring joy and comfort into your life, Gilmore Girls is the way to go. , Streaming services include Netflix and Amazon Prime.
American Horror Story
American Horror Story is a popular series that follows different horror stories throughout the seasons. Season one revolves around a family of three who move into a new house in Los Angeles. The house is locally nicknamed “the murder house” and though they don’t realize it at first, it’s haunted by all of the past owners who died there. I have enjoyed this series so much, in fact, I only started it a few days ago and am now on season three. There are so many plot twists that one would never have seen coming, and the characters are so complex and seem so realistic. Overall, this show is definitely one of my favorites. It may be a bit weird, an acquired taste if you will, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I originally thought I would.
As I stated previously, each season is a new horror story, however, some of the actors remain the same, and they simply play completely new characters. For instance, in season one of American Horror Story, Evan Peters plays the role of Tate Langdon, a ghost boy who haunts the murder house, but in the next season, he plays a man called Kit Walker, who was convicted of murdering his wife and sent to live out his days at Briarcliff Manor. So each season, most of the actors remain the same but their roles and lives are entirely different. That might seem a bit weird, but I think that it’s unique. How many other shows or movies can you name that have that same significance? This show is absolutely incredible, with twists that will leave you staring at the screen with your jaw on the floor. I one hundred percent recommend this title if you need a new scary series to binge. Streaming services include Prime Video and Disney Plus/Hulu.
Anne With An E
Anne With an E is a book-to-film adaptation based on the book series Anne Of Green Gables (an incredibly good one as well). The TV series follows the story of an orphan with an imagination anyone would envy. Anne With an E is set in the late 19th century in the small town of Avonlea located on Prince Edwards Island. Anne is called from the orphanage and sent to live with Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert. When she arrives, the couple is… surprised to say the least. They were expecting a boy to help with the yard work, not a girl.
Anne begs them to let her stay and they hesitantly agree. The entire series is all about Anne creating a new life for herself in Avonlea, getting over past traumas, making new friends, discovering her purpose in life, and becoming a woman. If you enjoy films such as Gilmore Girls, or Bridgerton, this is definitely the show for you. Streaming services include Netflix and Prime Video
Autumn is a wonderful season, one of the most beautiful some might argue, and TV shows can only make it better. If you want this fall to be the most magical of all, these series give off the perfect fall vibes just for your viewing pleasure.
