Balanced Minds(a HOSA initiative) is a group focused on raising awareness about mental health, specifically, targeting teens and young adults. In today’s fast paced world, the conversation around mental health is more critical than ever. “We’re targeting teens and young adults”, says Pavani Miryala who is a sophomore and a critical member of the group.F Balanced Minds is here to guide and support young individuals in understanding their mental well being.
One of their core initiatives is to educate peers about various mental health issues, from anxiety to depression. Propagating healthy coping skills, like stress management and self care techniques, are the essential idea of this initiative. They utilize social media platforms and community events to share resources and strategies that encourage open dialogue around mental health and foster an environment where young people can feel safe to express their feelings.
The members of Balanced Minds, Ichcha Pandey, Pavani Miryala, Avelyn Prince, and Diya Sivaramen, bring diverse perspectives and energy to their mission. Together, they work relentlessly to spread useful information about mental health, emphasizing that taking care of one’s well being is just as important as physical health.
Ichcha Pandey says, “There’s a lot of people who don’t realize the importance of mental health and that really impacts them and the people around them. We want to help them. And the best way to do that is by explaining the importance of mental health to others.”
