There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Billie Eilish and the Grammy Awards. In May 2024, Billie Eilish released an album titled “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” (HMHAS). This album was a huge success, receiving 72.7 million streams on the first day and 5 billion to date. A listener at MRHS stated, “I believe Billie Eilish deserved to win the Grammy because, in the album, she was able to channel her emotions into the lyrics more. In addition, her album reached #1 on the Billboard charts in just a few days.” Karina Kunz, another listener at MRHS, also stated, “I loved Billie’s HMHAS album, especially her song ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’ She deserved the award because her music felt more genuine and didn’t mock multiple genres like Beyoncé’s did.”
Billie’s song “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” was a huge hit and received 1.78 billion streams, going viral across social media platforms, and receiving plenty of love. Knowing this, it came as a surprise to many listeners that Billie didn’t win a single Grammy. Many people believe that she should have won Album of the Year, which was instead awarded to “COWBOY CARTER” by Beyoncé. Many people find this unfair because Billie Eilish had multiple hits on her album, including “WILDFLOWER”, “THE GREATEST”, “LUNCH”, “BLUE”, and more. Each song in the album has been extremely popular since May, each with its own popular trend on social media.
This was also disappointing to fans because not only does Billie have a beautiful voice she is also a loving and supportive person, she has always been kind to her fans and treats them well. Billie deserved the Grammy for how far she has come and progressed since the start of her journey. In 2017, Billie Eilish became an artist at sixteen with her song “Ocean Eyes.” She released this song at a young age, and from there, she began producing extremely successful songs, “Bad Guy” being her next hit. This song quickly became one of the most trending and was played on nearly every radio station.
In 2020, “Bad Guy” won the Grammy for Song of the Year. Now at 23 years old, she has won 9 Grammys for her wonderful voice and music. Billie has had this dream since she was a little girl and planned it with her brother Finneas, a well-renowned artist. Billie shared with interviewers that, when she was young, Finneas promised her, “I’m gonna make you the biggest pop star in the world.” She remains very close to her brother, who has supported her journey. Considering all this, it was unfair that Beyoncé won Album of the Year. Billie Eilish truly deserved the win.
