Mrs. Kain has been teaching here at Mountain Ridge for two years. She teaches Intermediate/ Advanced Film/TV, AP Computer Fundamentals, and
Adv/Intro Digital Communications. She went to Savannah College of Art and Design for her undergrad in Film and TV, and then later went to Augsburg College for her MFA in Creative Writing, she also went to ASU for her MA in English.
Her favorite thing about teaching is making her lessons for her content. She has always wanted to give back to our generation and teaching film and journalism allowed her to do just that. If she could teach any other courses she would pick creative writing. A big challenge she deals with is having an invisible disability which can make her days feel stressful and impossible. She enjoys seeing her students embrace hard things and with that it allows her students to carry that with them for a long time. Teaching is actually her second career, she runs a small production company where she tells stories. And she finds that teaching and telling her own stories outside of campus helps her do a better job as a teacher. In five to ten years she sees herself working full time telling stories with the topic of film or writing novels and making movies. She also plans on going back to grad school to get her counseling degree with a focus on trauma. Her opinion on being around teenagers all day is very positive, she enjoys being around us, and she also has days when she doesn’t quite understand them, but that’s what makes this job an adventure.
Mrs. Kain is also leaving this upcoming year, she is going to a high school in the Glendale district. She is going there to teach English. She will be teaching sophomore students and seniors in AP Lit.
