Astrology. If anything, it’s an idea, an opinion. Some people believe that the stars can tell stories of their lives and what’s to come for them, while others might think it’s not real, and that the planets will never be able to tell us about our futures. I, however, happen to be among those who do believe. Astrology is meant to provide a sort of comfort to those who fear the unknown. It’s meant, for them at least, to explain facets of one’s life and predict significant events in them based on the positions of celestial objects. Astrology is known as a method of predicting prosaic events based upon the assumption that spiritual bodies— the planets and stars in particular, would in some way either determine or indicate changes in the physical world.
In simpler terms, the sole idea of astrology is essentially that the moon, the sun, the stars, and the planets are all in a certain alignment when a person is born. This alignment of astronomical entities supposedly has an influence on their lives beyond the basics of when the sun rises and sets.
While believing in astrology is more of an opinion, some folks think that it is real and truly affects us. Senior, Mia Smallwood said on the topic of astrology, “It’s actually pretty interesting if you look at it, I mean yeah it might seem impossible that planets can affect your behavior or tarot cards can tell the future, but the amount of times they’ve both been accurate is… just crazy.”
Certain members of the public often preach that people who believe in astrology are just flat out insane, but that’s simply not true. Sure, the cards and the signs aren’t always reliable, and of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however the art of astrology has been much too accurate for me to believe otherwise.
Unfortunately there is no physical proof that astrology exists and works the way we think it does, even though people have been studying it for years. There is no clear evidence that the sun and the stars affect our behavior, which I guess is why most don’t believe in it; they can’t believe what they can’t see, and astrology uses stories and topics that are typically more difficult for scientists to prove. While all of that may be true, it’s also true that in myself and many others’ experience, tarot cards and zodiac signs have told us almost exactly what we were seeing and feeling in that moment. So, no, there may not be any solid proof that astrology works the way we think it does, but I’m a firm believer that it does exist and it does affect our behavior, at least a little bit.
