Innumerable Trump Candidacy (R) supporters stormed Capitol Hill in the District of Columbia in order to prevent the formal ‘counting of the electoral votes’ on the 6th of January.

As a simple formality/tradition, the Senate gathered to individually open letters and acknowledge the assigned Electoral College votes which had previously led to the election of 2020 President-Elect Joe Biden (D); this led to a relatively unannounced raid and riot at Capitol Hill.

Large crowds led to an immediate series of violence that caused varying reports of damage. CBS directly reported a woman having been shot and killed, with tear gas being used on the rioters as many ended up breaking into the Senate hall; eventually the National Guard was called, promptly leading to the securing of Capitol Hill and dissipation of the rioters.

Before the dissipation of the riots, both President-Elect Biden and President Donald Trump issued statements to the rioters and American Public at large. Trump’s statement was issued through his Twitter feed; Biden issued his on broadcast television. President Trump in his statement asked the rioters to “go home,” though his appeal wasn’t relatively effective.

Regardless of President Trump’s claims of election fraud and the rioting at Capitol Hill, President-Elect Biden is set to take office on the 20th of January, 2021.
