A New Beginning

Ava Padelford, Editor

It doesn’t matter which side you’re on; Left or Right, Up or Down, etc. At the end of the day we’re all human and we bleed the same blood. It doesn’t matter who you, or your parents, or friends voted for. There is a new leader over our country.

The past year has come with many challenges and they aren’t over yet. There has been immense destruction, loss, and hardship. It’s important that we don’t give up and that we keep pursuing our goals and dreams. We choose how to react to every situation. We don’t need to let views of others break who we are, and we need to rise up and be the United States. The only thing we can do is pray for our country. You can’t always get what you want.

Don’t give up;  there is still so much to be done. Don’t let this year fly by without putting in hard work. Give it everything you got. Your future and success is determined by what you do today and how you view your life. Stop saying “I’ll do it tomorrow” because one day, there won’t be a tomorrow. You were put in this world for a reason; go find your reason.

Stop looking to others to pull you out of situations. Having a shoulder to lean on is something we all need but there will be a point when you must take an independent step to better yourself.

There are about 331,002,651 people in the United States. Everyone has their own opinion and has the freedom to do what they dream to do. Don’t take for granted what we are so fortunate to have. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Remember the soldiers who fought to give you everything you have today. Remember your loved ones who stood by your side when all hope was lost. Remember who you are and what you hold dear.

It’s a new year. New Years hold change and sometimes we won’t like the new change. Change is needed to make us into better people. Failure is needed to help us grow and learn from past mistakes. Don’t let failure or uncomfortable change, put you down, but instead, learn from it. This is how we can grow in our mind and in our hearts.

Don’t forget about your friends and family who loved you at your worst. We can’t let different opinions, whether it’s political or not, affect the way we treat people. If you are unhappy with a person because of their beliefs you don’t need to let them know. They have the freedom to their own opinion just as you do.

It’s important to bite our tongue in certain situations and not let how we feel get the best of us. The things that we say may feel so right in the moment but will later lead to regret.

Let this new beginning change you and challenge you to become a better version of yourself. At the end of the day, you determine how far you go. How far are you willing to go?
