Have you recently been feeling stressed? Overwhelmed with school? Not feeling like your usual self? Well don’t you fret, you just need to take some time and improve your mental health.  Many people believe their mental health is in a good condition, but once they take a deeper look, it becomes apparent that they need to do some improvements.

As soon as you realize your mental health can use some work, there are several ways to find said improvement:

Yoga

Yoga is one of the easiest ways to rebuild a healthy brain. Allowing yourself to relax for 10-30 minutes will do wonders for your mental health. Recently, I started practicing Yoga and I have found myself happier, more relaxed, having a cooler temper and even getting better sleep. I personally recommend doing yoga for about 10 minutes every day for the beginners; you’re bound to see amazing changes in your life.

Balanced Meals

Eating balanced meals is so beneficial for an amazing mental state. Providing necessary nutrients to fuel your body will do wonders for your brain power. If you aren’t supplying your brain with foods that make it feel good and will allow you to do everything to the best of your ability, it will be terribly difficult to get things accomplished. You will feel way more energetic, happier, and work harder when you are eating balanced meals.

Breaks

Taking little breaks in between work is so good for the mind. This allows the brain to relax and gather yourself. If you overwork your brain, you will not perform and do your work to your best ability. On the other hand, you can’t take too many breaks. Too many breaks in between work leave room for many distractions and ultimately lose focus of the task at hand. I personally recommend doing 30 minutes of work then a quick 5 minute break. In that 5 minutes, do not go on any electronics, just think to yourself and let your brain relax.

Working Out

Creating a workout routine that you are able to complete every single day does wonders for your mind. Working out releases endorphins that release a chemical into your brain, making you happier. I find that working out makes me less irritable and I don’t get into bad moods as often. It may take quite a bit of motivation to get you started, but as you start to see the benefits, you may never want to stop working out. Not only will this make you feel better, but you will look better in the process.

Random acts of kindness

Random acts of kindness are instant mentality boosters. I had a friend of mine do 7 random acts of kindness, one for each day of the week. An example of this could be bringing a friend their favorite drink, or offer to pay for a stranger’s meal. Not only does it make you feel good for giving back to those around you, it makes those who you give to feel extremely loved and cared for. When you see how grateful others are when you give back, it fills your day with happiness and sets you up with a blissful mindset.

Sometimes, it really helps your mental health when you do self-reflection. Look deep within yourself and realize what is harming your mentality. When you address that to yourself, apply the changes to fix it. Growing and becoming a better form of yourself is crucial to fix your mental health. It will take hard work and a whole lot of perseverance, but the benefits are truly worth it.

At the end of the day, taking care of your mental health should be a top priority.
