Athlete Tim Tebow

You may know the former NFL player, Baseball player, and broadcaster Tim Tebow. He played college football for the University of Florida, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007, and many championships following. As far as professional football goes for Tebow, he has played for the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets. In 2016 he began his baseball career with the Syracuse Mets, a minor league team affiliated with the New York Mets, though three years previously he had been hired by ESPN to be a college football analyst.

It’s no secret at all that Tim Tebow possesses a wide range of physical talent. Not only is Tebow admired for his athleticism but he is also known for his great works and deep faith.

On February 8, 2019 the Tim Tebow Foundation threw a prom for teenagers with special needs in Vatican City. The sports celebrity and Catholic Church teamed up to create a night full of love and memory. He wanted to spread the kindness of Jesus and bump up the spirits of the children.

Tebow states, “I don’t think God gives us strength so we can lift things; I think he gives us strength so we can lift other people.”

While many athletes are known for their antics and comments off the field, Tim Tebow uses his platform as a microphone for Christianity. We know that many already use their money for charities and foundations which does wonders, but Tebow’s difference is that he lives out what he preaches. He advocates in churches, interviews, podcasts, and even on the field.

During Tebow’s college football career back in 2009, he said that he was prompted within to write the verse John 3:16 in eye black on his cheeks. He thought that if he could spiritually touch even just one single person watching the game, then it would be worth changing the verse that he had been previously writing on his cheek, Philippians 4:13, that had gotten him famously known for.

“…God kept bringing up to my heart and my head John 3:16 which is the essence of our Chritianity. It’s the essence of our hope,” he says.

After wearing that verse under his eyes for the first time while winning the championship game, he was informed that 94 million people googled John 3:16 during that very game.

Just wait…the story gets better.

Jetting three years later, Tebow was now a Denver Bronco and had just finished playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs. After the game, while walking into the post-game press conference, the athlete was stopped by his public relations representative and got some amazingly shocking news.

He asked Tebow if he truly understood just how special that specific day was while Tebow simply said “Yeah, we just beat the Steelers!” His public relations representative replied with, “No, I don’t think that you realize what happened.”

“He said, ‘It’s exactly three years later from the day that you wore John 3:16 under your eyes. During the game, you threw for 316 yards, your yards per completion were 31.6, your yards per rush were 3.16, the ratings for the night were 31.6, and the time of possession was 31.06, and during the game, 91million people googled John 3:16 and it’s the number one trending thing on every platform,” Tebow shared during an interview.

You can call this a miracle, you can call this a coincidence. Whatever you think it is, it happened! Tim Tebow just has the gift of being able to captivate the hearts of many people. He lives out his purpose every day, leading a good example to fellow followers of Christ. Like Tebow once said relating to the way he interprets living out his life, “I have so many things to work on, and so many ways that I fail. But that’s what grace is all about. And I constantly wake up every morning trying to get better, trying to improve, trying to walk closer to God.”
