RR: What is the purpose of your club?
The purpose of FBLA is to connect business and education in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership. Through FBLA, we want to make sure to strengthen students’ skills and help develop critical thinking not only needed for a future business career but any career in general. Some specific goals of FBLA include developing competent business leadership and strengthening the confidence of students in themselves and their work. Moreover, we work together as a team to support and guide members to become successful leaders as a whole.
RR: How do students join your club?
Students who demonstrate interest can join FBLA by contacting one of our advisors, Ms. Bernard and Ms. Horton, or contact one of our officers. We also have a Mountain Ridge FBLA website and Instagram page which includes all additional information about our organization.
RR: What sorts of activities does your club participate in?
Our club primarily participates in numerous competitions throughout the year in which students can showcase their skills through a number of written and role-play events regarding business and leadership. Our three main competitions include Regionals held at GCU, State held in Tucson, and Nationals which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia this year. Some of the events that Mountain Ridge FBLA students have achieved awards in include Hospitality and Event Management, Word Processing, Economics, Introduction to Business Presentation, Public Speaking, and more. In addition, FBLA hosts Leadership Conferences and other events with well-rounded business professionals and speakers to allow members to get first-hand experience in business and leadership. We also participate in community service events such as Toys for Tots, Holiday Assistance Drives, and events that our very own club members introduce.
RR: Who do you believe would be interested in joining your club and why?
Students interested in having a future in the business field should be and are most likely involved in our club as it helps develop crucial leadership, organizational, and innovative skills. However, I truly believe that anyone who wants to develop strong skills needed for any career or even their day-to-day lives would benefit from joining FBLA. Personally, FBLA has developed skills within me that I never would have thought to achieve by myself such as self-confidence, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration and I have to thank our supportive advisors and officers for that. FBLA is truly a club for everyone!
