A new year means new looks, often using inspiration from the 80’s until the early 2000’s. While Ridge is a suburban high school and for most students, life is not a fashion show, you might start spotting some sporting new styles very soon!

90s Zig Zag Headband

While scrunchies were popular a few years ago, an old school hair accessory is being made new again. Most recently seen on supermodels Kendal Jenner and Bella Hadid, the circle and comb-like headband is making its way back in style and onto heads.

Parachute Pants

Originally seen in the 80’s in bright colors and patterns, parachute pants have been seen in street style in softer colors, like cream, olive green, and gray. They have become more slim and sleek, making pants more fashionable.

Puffy Slippers

Winter footwear is a must to survive the chilly weather fronts. The puffer clog-like slippers, while rather ugly, are a new trend on the heels of the Tasman Ugg phenomena. Wear with sweatpants or a casual outfit, these slide-on shoes are a must this year.

Bubble Dresses

I remember these from the early 2000’s and they are coming back! While we likely won’t see this look until the spring and summer, keep your eye out for dresses and skirts with bubble-like hems.

Cobalt Blue

This deep blue is the perfect accent color to add to your wardrobe this year. It encapsulates the cold winter and accentuates any hot pinks or greens come spring and summer. Wear as a sweater or a bold jacket, don’t be surprised when you see this blue pop up around campus in 2023.

Fashion is all about the mixing of styles, patterns, and decades. Go out on a limb, be creative, and out some new looks this year!
