Walking into campus was exciting to see so many different people in costume renditions of their grade’s theme. The distinctive split theme allowed for the entire day to be filled with entertaining looks. The freshman wore winter gear to represent the game Don’t Break the Ice, the sophomores wore beach day outfits for Battleship, the juniors wore bright colors for Candyland, and seniors wore construction gear for Jenga. One freshman teacher, Ms. Sefcik, dressed in a full snow suit, beanie, and snow boots. When asked why she chose to dress up she says, “ I wanted to show the freshman how it’s done.” That she did, as Sefcik’s outfit was unique and stylish, all in all perfect for the freshman theme. Sophomore, Samaria, flourished in sporting her grade’s theme, her outfit included, a Hawaiian lei, a beach hat, a beautiful flower in her hair and an overall beachy outfit. Samaria was asked if she felt that spirit week helped engage a sense of Ridge community, and she responded, “Yes, because it shows how much people are connected to the Ridge spirit weeks and how much fun they have.” Overall today’s theme allowed for each separate class to brandish their individuality. Witnessing the differences in costumes as well as themes made split day distinctively unique.
