Wish Week is an annual week where Ridge Student Government raises funds for a goal of 10,000 for Make-A-Wish, as this amount of money is the cost of granting one wish for a wish kid. This year’s Wish Week was from March 31st to April 4th and posed a few interesting challenges.
Firstly, the asynchronous day. Early in the planning process, it was brought up that the Tuesday of Wish Week would be an asynchronous day, meaning that half of campus would be at home for the day. Normally, Student Government likes to have a fundraiser during both lunches each day of Wish Week, but this prohibited this from happening. So adaptations were made. Instead of a fundraiser on campus, efforts were focused on the restaurant fundraiser at the Cane’s off Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant from 4PM-9PM.

The rest of the week went smoothly. Each day a fundraiser took place during both 4th and 5th lunch. On Monday March 31st, the fundraiser was Pie an Underclassmen and a Barros restaurant fundraiser on 67th. For only $3, people were able to pie Student Government underclassmen at lunch. The ‘pies’ were plastic plates with whipped cream. Overall, the fundraiser was a huge success, even if the underclassmen had to smell a little in their last few classes.
Wednesday April 3rd was Water Balloon a Teacher and a restaurant fundraiser at Cafe Rio on Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant. Teachers volunteered their time during lunch to be made into targets for a good cause. Each water balloon cost only $1, incentivizing students to pay to pummel their teachers. Ms Sefcik, who stayed out for the fundraiser during 4th lunch, even took her 5th hour class out to lunch to hit her again, raising the most money out of all the teachers for this fundraiser.

The following day was another wet fundraiser—this time for the Student Government Seniors. Soak a Senior took place at both lunches, where students could pour a small or large bucket of water on one of the Student Government seniors heads for either $3 or $5 or throw a water balloon for $1. Although it was a cold day, the seniors pushed through, helping the efforts to raise money for Make-A-Wish. As well, a sweet treat waited at the Twisted Sugar on Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant, the restaurant fundraiser for Thursday April 3rd.
Friday proved to be a different day. The last of the set of lunch fundraisers, this was a fundraiser Mountain Ridge had never seen before: Buzzing Heads for a Wish. Volunteers from each grade level said they would buzz their head at lunch if a minimum goal of $5000 was reached.
It was exceeded.

Thus, student after student got their head buzzed at lunch, with friends paying to take a turn doing the buzzing. Overall, it turned into a fundraiser nobody would forget.
But that was not all Friday had in store. From 6PM-8PM, Ridge Thrift was held in the parking lot near the football field, with student vendors from DVUSD. Anyone could come and pay an entry fee of $5 to participate, and each vendor set their own cost for the clothes they were selling. Overall it was a huge success!
The 2025 Wish Week was such an amazing way to raise $6500 for Make-A-Wish and could not have been done without the support of the staff, teachers, student government, and student body who helped make each fundraiser memorable and very profitable!
