The week of Homecoming is often regarded as the highlight of the school year, buzzing with unique schedules and excitement both inside and outside the classroom. The centerpiece of this celebration is the Homecoming parade, a vibrant display that features various clubs, sports teams, and the Homecoming royalty. It’s a lively parade where students can express their creativity through floats—this year, many opted for cars to represent their organizations and celebrate their achievements as a school community.
The atmosphere during the parade is filled with enthusiasm; students line the streets, excited for the brief break from class and the fun of catching candy tossed their way. Beyond the thrill, the event serves an important purpose: it educates attendees about the numerous activities and accomplishments Ridge has cultivated throughout the year.
This year’s parade showcased a variety of sports, including volleyball, football, and soccer, as well as clubs like Film and TV, She’s the First, and Yearbook. From the perspective of those on the floats, it’s fascinating to see everyone wandering about, asking for candy, and joining in the Ridge spirit. Each float shows the identity and talents of our school, allowing students to connect with their friends and the younger kids who look up to them.
Creativity was on full display, as Student Government crafted imaginative floats representing grade level themes like Jenga and Candy Land. The overall theme was Ridge Got Game. The football team spectacularly embodied Monopoly, displaying elements like the end zone and locker room.
The Homecoming court was also present, with cars driving the attendants for each grade. The anticipation builds around the final selection of the Senior court, set to be revealed at the Homecoming football game on November 1st. Overall, this year’s Homecoming parade was not just about fun; it was a celebration of Mountain Ridge’s spirit and community.
