MRHS Dance Presents: When I Grow Up

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending  Mountain Ridge High School’s dance show entitled, “When I Grow Up”, and I found it to be very inspiring. Choreographers, Katy Rosinbum and Becky Lopez, and various ensemble dancers created an environment where you wouldn’t dare to blink for fear of missing something spectacular.

The costumes, lighting, and intense emotion was carried through by almost every dancer who graced across the stage, which left a good lasting impression on the audience. No matter your music or dance style preference, there was something for you to enjoy.

Period 7 Dance Ensemble performed a tap routine to popular country song “Ain’t Goin a Down Til the Sun Comes Up”, and Performance Dance even jumped into the spirit of the holidays with a dance choreographed to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

I’d like to notably mention Nici Kraft, a junior at Ridge and dancer for the Performance Dance group. Kraft not only solely choreographed the amazing dance titled “I Want To Have a Family”, but her performances throughout the night were focused, energetic, and fully captivating to the greatest extent.

Each and every one of these groups set the bar high tonight, and judging by the roaring applause and screams, they did not disappoint many. Ms. Lopez and Mrs. Rosinbum are outstanding teachers, and I can’t wait to come back in the spring to see how far these talented dancers will come.

This might have been my first time seeing a dance show, but it certainly won’t be my last.
