Friday, Aug 25th was the start up of the long awaited 23-24 football season, and with a filled student section, Ridge was ready to go! Per usual the stands were ready to riot and brought the heat to support the team as they faced Highland. This year, Mountain Ridge began with a rocky start to the season with a loss of 45-14, but with skilled new coaches in the Mountain Lion home, they aren’t afraid to make a comeback.
Half time was great with Ridge cheer bringing real shine on the field, and the girls were on point with every move and brought bold personality in their show. Band also brought a great performance with the Mountain Ridge traditional fight song, and had a great tune.
In an interview with one of the senior varsity players, Lamar Favors gave feedback on Friday’s game saying, “I think last Friday, first game of the season everybody is tense but excited, but next game we should play relaxed, be us and have fun”. Furthermore, when asked “What happened with Highland? What made Ridge not take the win?” he responds with, “needing better position and better patience”.
Well the Mountain Lions heard it, Ridge is back in the game and despite the setback the team is ready to take back what’s theirs, the victory. Don’t forget to bring the heat back to the stands Ridge, it’s going to be a wild season!
