The Hunger Games books are remarkable due to how gripping, profound, and classic the story itself is. There are so many significant yet interesting parts of the plot. Such as the scene with an overwhelmed Katniss on the clear elevator going up to the games. Scenes like this pull the reader into the story for every single part and chapter. Some books start boring and only get interesting in the climax. The Hunger Games, however, hooks readers right in from the first sentence.
This series sets itself apart from others because of its diverse subject matter and stylistic influences. It discusses the topics of war, culture, technology and media, which makes the setting and time of the event quite fascinating. The setting interestingly dictates the book’s core themes with its impoverished and division of districts, arena, as well as the wealthy Capitol to demonstrate the violence and political control the government is placing on the people. This storyline is accessible to a variety of individuals of different ages, with different interests. There are a variety of different parts of the story that are appropriate yet not too childish, making this great book accessible for everyone! Once more, the novels draw from multiple genres, such as dystopian fiction, science fiction, adventure, thriller, and war stories. This allows a myriad of people to read the book and get a hint at what genres they are interested in.
Since The Hunger Games is written in the first person from Katniss Everdeen’s point of view, it gives the reader a detailed
internal monologue so they can get the perspective of the main character, hero, and victim. Readers usually only get to see one side of the story, and while ‘The Hunger Games’ is similar, there being only one perspective, Katniss details a wealth of different experiences in the games, ranging from heroic triumph to crushing, heartbreaking loss. This means viewers get a full idea of what every character experiences throughout the games—not only Katniss.
While being filled with the diverse settings and genres, The Hunger Games also includes many details that make the experience of reading more immersive. Furthermore, these books are a trilogy; it also has a prologue book and an epilogue book. This means readers get many details about the nation of Panem and its 13 districts, as well as each character’s backstory, giving readers the chance to theorise about every facet of the series.
What is even better is that the books were adapted into movies. This means that if readers can’t get enough of the books, they can watch the movies as well. The films provide a full visual experience for fans of the novels. As many know, some movies adapted from books aren’t very good. That is thankfully not the case here! A new book for the Hunger Games series also came out recently. Likewise, the movie adaptation for that new book is coming to theatres at the end of November.
Overall, in my opinion, The Hunger Games books are an amazing series! Not one of the books or movie adaptations is of poor quality. If you are interested in exploring a book series with multiple themes, genres, and keep you at the edge of your seat, read The Hunger Games series.
