Winter is here! After waiting this whole year we finally have arrived in December. There are many activities to do this season such as skiing, going to festivals, and reading books. However, movie lovers will be most excited to re-watch their favorite seasonal movies. If you don’t have an idea on what to watch or have run out of ideas, there are many great options I recommend for this holiday season.
- Christmas Chronicles
Christmas Chronicles tells the adventures of Kate and her brother Teddy trying to find Santa Claus, when it turns into an unexpected journey. This movie is an amazing family comedy so you don’t have to watch it alone! What is even better is that this has a sequel so you have another movie to watch as well. Along with being heartfelt it is also funny which ensures you to have a laugh. There are not many Christmas movies focused on elves. However, the enjoyable part of watching this is learning all about the elves that work in Santa’s factory. It has great sets and amazing visuals. These two movies are a great watch and are available on Netflix.
Some people want to watch more of a comedic movie or a movie with more Hollywood favorites. Well there are many other classics I recommend too. Next up is a classic and not talked about enough. It has Hollywood’s favorites, Will Ferrell and James Caan.
2. Elf
Next up is a great classic, Elf. If you want to watch a Christmas or holiday comedy with your family, this has to be on your list. This movie is about a human who was raised as one of Santa’s elves in the North Pole. Then he travels to New York City to find his biological father. Besides having some Hollywood favorites starring in this movie like Will Ferrell, it has many great jokes that should certainly make you laugh. Although there is no Elf 2, this movie is a must watch for all movie lovers. On top of that, this movie isn’t just for children, it blends childlike wonder with adult humor. It is sure to give you nostalgia as well. This movie is available on Hulu.
3. Home Alone
By far the best classic of all, we have Home Alone. Anyone could agree that this movie is the funniest classic of all. When a spoiled 8 year old Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, acts out the night before a big family trip to Paris, he is forced to sleep in the attic. As a result of this, he wakes up the next morning alone when his family forgets about him and they leave for Paris. Not only is this movie heartwarming, but it blends perfectly with some comedy. You can’t call yourself a movie lover if you never watched this movie. Even better, there is Home Alone 2 and 3 so you get to watch this classic for the duration of three movies. This movie is available on Disney+ or you can rent it on Prime Video.
4. The Grinch
Last but certainly not least we have the Grinch. The Grinch movie has to be the most classic of all Christmas classics of all time. It is yet again played by another Hollywood favorite, Jim Carrey. Every person has to have watched Grinch at some point but it can’t hurt to watch it again. There are so many versions of this story. It was adapted from the famous book by Dr. Seuss into a TV show and multiple different movies. If you watched one of these versions, I recommend watching another because you just can’t get enough of it!
In conclusion, there are so many different movie classics to watch this holiday season, whether it is with your family, friends, pets, or just by yourself. You can’t get enough of them. Sit back in your Christmas socks, PJs, and hot chocolate by the Christmas tree and have a laugh at these classics this season.
